Music Therapy for Kids and Adults with Autism

Music Therapy can help kids and adults with autism diagnoses or suspected autism spectrum to connect in a way that doesn’t require words. It offers a a fun and safe environment for them to be themselves. Music Therapy also build skills. These skills include:

  • Speech and communication

  • Neurodevelopment, Cognitive skills

  • Fine and Gross Motor Skills

  • Decreased pain or discomfort

Who might benefit?

  • Kids waiting to be tested for autism have been shown to have greater outcome with early intervention

  • Kids diagnosed with autism (may have other special needs as well)

  • Adults diagnosed with autism (may have other special needs as well)

Who wouldn't benefit?

Music therapy isn’t necessary for kids who are reaching typical milestones if they are neurotypical and do not have any medical/developmental needs or diagnoses. We do recommend musical enrichment for kids through exposure to music, singing and dancing at home, and music education, classes, and tutoring.
