Music Therapy for Aging

Clinical music therapy interventions are based on a growing body of evidence indicating that music therapy supports:

  • cognitive functioning skills

  • memory improvement and retention

  • enhanced motor skills

  • creativity

  • socialization

  • nervous and immune systems

Interventions include:

  • Singing

  • Instrument play

  • Song analysis, lyric analysis

  • Exploration of personal musical history and memories

  • Music and movement

  • Visual and audible recall exercises

  • Somatic meditation

We offer one-on-one assessments and sessions for aging adults and adults with dementia.

Share Music Therapy is currently accepting applications of aging adults with or without early-stage dementia to offer a “Staying Sharp” group emphasizing cognitive functioning skills. If we receive enough interest, it will be offered online in a weekly or bi-weekly group session.
